GET CREATIVE! FAIRYTALE RETELLING WRITING WORKSHOP Show Program

Check out my Instagram & TikTok for more fun!

About The Workshop

With this one-hour workshop, author Brandie June (GOLD SPUN, CURSE UNDONE) discusses how developing characters makes for a more interesting and complex story. Attendees will be provided with several writing prompts to encourage creative thinking as they develop their own fairytale retellings with new characters and settings. Bring something to write with/on and be ready to have fun!

There will be a book signing following the class.

Note: Javista is wheelchair & limited-mobility accessible. If you need such accommodation, please note that when you purchase your ticket.

About The Creator

Author & Playwright Brandie June

Brandie June (she/her) - Brandie spent most of my childhood onstage or reading, as both activities let her live in fantastic stories. She moved to Los Angeles to study acting at UCLA, and eventually branched out into costume design, playwriting, prose, and eventually got her MBA in Entertainment Marketing, becoming the Marketing Director for Kids & Family Entertainment at Shout! Studios. Last year she brought her comedic musical, TRULY OUTRAGEOUS: A JEM & THE HOLOGRAMS PARODY MUSICAL, to the Hollywood Fringe Festival. It was nominated for Best Musical and won the Encore Producer’s Award. It also possibly had the most glitter of any show at Fringe.

When not writing or marketing, she can often be found doing nail art, listening to audiobooks, drinking too much espresso, and coming up with new art projects. She’s a volunteer story coach for middle and high school students through SpiritCorps and mentor through Youth Mentoring Connection. She lives with her husband, two spoiled rescue pups, a spoiled cat, two spoiled parakeets, and five bookshelves. She hopes to acquire a bookcase with a rolling ladder in the near future so she can sing about this poor provincial town.

Her debut novel, GOLD SPUN, is a Rumpelstiltskin retelling, and CURSE UNDONE is the conclusion to the duology. Her next novel, MAGIC AT THE GRAND DRAGONFLY THEATRE, is a new YA fantasy set in a magical theatre and comes out Summer 2025.
