Cheyenne Browning is a prolific author with a specialty for Sapphic Paranormal Romance. She is passionate about spicy, smutty stories with characters who speak to her. I recently got to chat with Cheyenne about her writing style, how she keeps track of all her different stories, and the importance of finding one's people.

Tell us a bit about the books you write. What excites you about writing Sapphic Paranormal Romances?
I write stories that come to me with just a thought. The stories are smutty and filled with spice and a little plot alongside. I have worked hard to develop my brand as a sapphic author and I'm always learning better ways to develop my characters and their stories. I'm just now getting to where I feel like the characters are finally speaking to me in a way that they need to in order to expand my writing skills. Writing sapphic stories has been something that I've loved from the very first one, Abaddon. That story flowed for me and yes looking back some things could definitely change and grow but that will always be my number one baby I've written. The joy I get when readers come to me and thank me for continuing to write in this genre is what excites me. It gives me chills knowing that even one person finds joy in my writing. That's why I keep doing it. It's why I will always continue to write sapphic romances.
You’re a prolific writer! How do you keep track of all the stories you’re working on?
I use a program called Dabble. I can set up different stories in that program and write notes and plot info for each story. I can add a cover image to the document and then work on them as I get inspiration or as I have a due date coming up. I also keep a schedule for releases of what I need to work on and when. It's hard work and I definitely get behind at times as I'm only human. But I do try and make up my schedules when I do so I can continue the stories I have missed or planned already before moving on to other works.
What is your writing process?
I am a go with the flow type of person. I write with a basic idea/outline but then pants away. I'm what you call a plantser. I plan. I write in order. Then the characters choose to change everything I've planned and do something crazy instead. Then I have to adjust said outline and continue on until the characters decide they are done with me.
You have some great tools for writers on your site. Do you have advice for aspiring authors?
Find your people. The people that will help build you up and not tear you down. There is a community for everyone out there and honestly without my people, I wouldn't have lasted long. Find your readers. There is a market for everyone. Also the hard days where you want to give up, go to those readers and get the lift they ALWAYS are willing to give. This business is hard, and it takes a lot of work besides writing the book. Writing the book is the easy part. It's what comes after that when it gets overwhelming. So find your people.
Where can people order your books?
All of my books are in KU on Amazon. I tried going wide last year and lost a lot of income from doing so. Unfortunately, it's harder for indie authors to go wide because of the exclusivity of KU and the large market they hold. So for now they are on Amazon. There are also options to purchase signed copies and artwork on my website!
Where’s the best place to follow you?
My Facebook reader's group is the most updated. Followed closely by my newsletter. I do have two pen names and both Cheyenne Browning- sapphic romance- and Mania Balor - dark romance- are under one publishing name of Dark Sins Publishing. It helps keep me less frazzled and more so in touch with everyone instead of spending my life on social media all day long. Gives me more time to write and maintain reader connections.
