Sometimes, I just need a really good pep talk. Maybe I've gotten a few rejection letters or I'm wondering if I'm good enough to write or if I'll ever get published. Suddenly, all the 'what ifs' start piling up and I want to do is curl up in a ball and hide. This isn't often, but it does happen every now and again. I recently read an interview of one of my favorite authors, Leigh Bardugo, in Writer's Digest, and it was exactly what I needed to hear. Like really, wow. She does such a wonderfully articulate job of explaining that talent 'doesn't have a shelf life' and that we aren't failing as writers if we have other stuff going on, such as another job or other life responsibilities. I can't express how much I needed to hear these words right now. Want to read the interview? (And I recommend that you do!) Check it out here.
